Popular Materials Used in Green Architecture
The Green Architecture Movement has gained popularity as more people have become concerned with using materials that do not have a negative impact on the environment. People have become very concerned with conserving our natural resources. So, if you want to reduce your carbon footprint, why not consider starting with your home and office space? Unlike a few years ago, when it was difficult to find environmentally friendly building materials, today there are just as many environmentally friendly building materials as there are standard building materials.
Recycled Products
Using recycled products in the home has become very popular and also cost effective. Some of the more popular productsinclude rubber roof shingles, which are also exceptional when it comes to insulating homes in keeping them warm during the winter and cool during the summer months. For countertops, concrete mixes which contain crushed recycled glass are replacing the popular natural stone because they are very fashionable and less expensive.

Tankless Water Heaters
These water heaters only heat water when it is needed unlike its counterpart which fill and store hot water in a large multi-gallon tank. By utilizing this type of water heater, the owner is able to control the amount of water being used along with the temperature of the water via a control panel. This system is attached to the plumbing system and uses a heat exchanger system.
Solar Cells
Installing solar panels on the roof in locations which receive high sun exposure during the day will help to reduce energy bills. If the facility receives large quantities of sun exposure during the day, the facility may not ever have the need to use anything other than solar power to heat, cool and run appliances.
Low-VOC Products
In homes which a considered to be air tight, it is very important to use materials that do not emit harmful chemicals into the air. Low Volatile Organic Compounds (Low-VOCs) do not use harmful chemicals like formaldehyde which is commonly found in most carpeting. Look at all labeling before purchasing fiber based products. Also, look for products with low odor.
